What is cell organelle

• An organelle is a subcellular structure that has one or more specific jobs to perform in the cell, much like an organ does in the body.

• Cell Organelle and their Functions. The basic structure of cell consist of nucleus, plasma membrane and cytoplasm

• structures like Endoplasmic Reticulum(ER), Golgi body, Lysosomes, Mitochondria, Plastids and Vacuoles are also present. All of these are cell organelles.

• The Nucleus contains the genetic material, also known as DNA, which is responsible for controlling and directing all the activities of the cell.

• mitochondria, which produce chemical energy

• ribosomes, which assemble proteins.

• endoplasmic reticulum. transports materials within cell; process lipids.

• cell membrane. controls what goes in and out of the cell.

• Vacuole. Holds water to provide pressure and rigidity in plant cells.
